He is also a highly regarded resource for the news media, with quotes in such renown publications as the Boston Business Journal, The Boston Globe, Drug Discovery News, The Scientist, and The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Marttila has over 15 years of contract management experience in the Life Science, Food Service and Consumer Packaged Goods sectors. In 1994, Joe joined SCC, Inc. and was one of the original 20 employees that helped define the company that would later become I-many. He worked in various roles and was one of the original team members that helped design and market the CARSIS family of products. In 1997, Joe was named Manager of I-many's Support Services where he was responsible for building a team to provide support for the I-many family of products. Joe became the Director of Business Consulting in 1999 and used his experience at I-many to train and build a team of business consultants who were responsible for supporting the sales process. In 2004, Joe left I-many to consult with various pharmaceutical manufacturers, system integrators and software vendors including SAP America. In 2005, Joe joined Eleven Technology, a mobile solutions start-up based in Cambridge MA, and helped grow it to become a major player in the mobile solutions market until it was eventually acquired by Trimble Navigation in 2006. Joe returned to I-many in 2007 in the role of Senior Director of Business Consulting and was responsible for the management of the business consulting team. In 2010, Joe was named the Senior Director of Life Science Solutions, and will be responsible for the solution design of the I-many product offerings and joint partner development.
